How to enter an essay

Judges

Judging will take place over the summer. There will be two rounds of judging. Short-listing will be done by a group of scientists at the UCL Institute of Neurology. Short-listed essays will then be considered by a panel chaired by Professor Eleanor Maguire, and comprising two leading figures from STEM, an expert in the history of science, a science journalist, and a school teacher. All judges will read essays without any knowledge of the author or school (so names should only be on the entry form that accompanies the essay).

All entries will then receive a certificate to acknowledge their participation, and the winner and runners-up will be informed.

The winning pupil will receive his/her prize, at the UCL Institute of Neurology’s Annual Address in the Autumn.
