The insight of blindsight

TN is legally blind and yet, can guess emotion above chance. Brain imaging and computational modelling could explain why. Using publicly available MRI data from the Human Connectome Project I will show that an anatomical pulvinar to amygdala route facilitates fear recognition. These findings demonstrate that the brain affords alternative shortcuts which may simultaneously ensure efficiency of survival critical information processing and redundancy in the case of insult.
