December Update: Wellcome Centre for Human Neuroimaging

News & Opportunities

This month, Tricia Seow was awarded a Sir Henry Wellcome Postdoctoral Fellowship entitled ‘Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) in Silico: Neurocognitive mechanisms of OCD treatment failure’. In2Research, a mentorship and development programme for access to postgraduate study for marginalised groups, co –founded by Public Engagement Manager Cassie Hugill and social mobility charity In2scienceUK was awarded £790,000 to expand into all areas of research and multiple institutions. The Centre welcomed two new members of staff; Mansoureh Fahimu Hnazaee (Postdoctoral Researcher in the Translational Neurophysiology Group) and Lois Mason (Science Communications Officer). Finally, new artwork has been installed in the Conservatory and Boardroom as part of two separate projects: Dear World Project’s ‘A Sense of Direction’ and ENSNARED.

Publications

The Centre has had a very successful month of publications. These papers include investigations into the cocktail party problem, the scientific study of consciousness and pre-and intra-operative language mapping tasks.

Vacancies

The Methods Group are looking to recruit a Research Fellow to engage in their own research projects while liaising with the Methods, Physics and Computational Anatomy teams.

Mental Health and Wellbeing

There are several internal mental health and wellbeing resources available for staff and students at UCL. These include mental health first aiders, an online CBT Platform and an Employee Assistance Programme. Full details of resources can be found on the Newsletter.
